OK, people. This is where I'm going to get upset and depressed.
If you don't know by now, Taxiride is my favourite band. Sure, I love *NSync, Killing Heidi, and a heap others... but when you sit down and listen to Taxiride's music...
It's extremely difficult to describe.
Listening to their CD "Imaginate", or one of their singles ["Get
Set", "Everywhere You Go", "Can You Feel", or "Nothing In This World"]
makes you remember why you love music in the first place.
Now, this isn't going to turn into a CD review [but knowing
me, it will now that I said it won't], but "Can You Feel" is probably
the best track they could serve up to you first. The music, and the four-part
harmonies of those gorgeous Melbourne babes [more commonly
referred to as Tim Watson, Tim Wild, Jason Singh, and Daniel Hall],
it all just blows you away. Their voices fit perfectly together.
These four guys are made for eachother. As forementioned, their voices fit together - they can all sing, better than any anyone - they can all play instruments, and they are all, as I fondly say, 'lyrically talented'. From "Can You Feel" all the way through 'till "Helplessly Hoping" [yes, we're talking the Australian version of the CD here], they hold their audience captive - and make them listen to it again and again.
I've seen Taxiride live. Only a little three song instore in the Brisbane Queen St Mall promoting their latest single at the time "Can You Feel", but it blew me away. Up on stage, the four guys I had come to know [except for Tim maybe. Slack in producing his personal details] and love. And afterwards, of course, they had a signing where the fans could go up, get a CD sleeve signed, and have the briefest chat possible to the guys [management says Brisbane isn't important enough. Flew them up from Melbourne, allowed them about 2 hours, and flew them back down to Melbourne. "They're working us like dogs" - Tim Watson]. This was an incredible experience for me. An incredible opportunity, too, to ask Tim Wild what the policemen were doing in "Ice Cream" [it wasn't until a few days later that I realized, like other terms in the song such as 'going sugerfree', 'cellophane sunkiss', and even 'ice cream' itself, the 'policemen in bright yellow raincoats/waving the children good-bye' could very well be a sheet pulled over our heads and to leave us in the dark]. He didn't tell me, responding with a "Uh... I don't know" which is completely un-true considering HE CO-WROTE THE DAMN SONG WITH TIM WATSON!!! My explanation of why Lil Tim "doesn't know"? *Shrug* He thinks I'm a kid without a warped mind. Oooh, if he knew the reality...
Anyway! This next part brings me around to what the point of this ramble
is. After Lil Tim disappointed me with his reply of "Uh... I don't know",
Mr. Daniel Hall - the next in line to sign my brand new "Can You Feel"
single sleeve - jumped in with a friendly answer of "The answer," (cue
dramatic pause while I look at him to make sure he has my attention) ",
is on the Internet".
I didn't believe him. I'm a Net-junkie. I checked every single Taxiride
web-site
I know of for the answer to my question of "What're the policemen doing
in 'Ice Cream'?" I didn't find it - hence the reason I was asking in the
first place.
With an amused grin, I asked "Where? I've looked everywhere!"
His reply: "Look tonight. I promise it'll be there."
*Phhh*
So, have y'all figured out the point of my ramble? That Daniel Hall
deceives his fans?
Well, if that's what you were thinking, then don't pass Go and don't
collect $200.
Honestly? I didn't check the Internet that night. I didn't have time. I got home at 7:30, did my homework, stressed at how long my Maths was taking me, didn't go to bed until 10:30 (an hour past my bed time), and was late the next day for school. That's what you get for holding instores on a Thursday afternoon instead of a logical Friday afternoon.
But this is all beside the actual point - however mentioning it is relevant to why I set out to write down this in the first place.
Still with me? Wanna see the actual ramble I originally set out to achieve but got sidetracked with d.) all of the above? Well, if you're still with me, and you still want to read what I sat down to achieve...
